I realized that it wasn't the office that I needed a break from. It wasn't the workload. It wasn't the Avayas or the Excel sheets or the elevators. Rather, the people. I needed a break from the people. Having to be polite and put on a fake smile every single day had taken its toll on me, emotionally; and it was great to get away from that.
It was refreshing to be in the company of someone whose vocabulary didn't revolve around the frivolity of "tama", "ikaw na", or "alam mo 'yan". It was uplifting to finally discuss things in an intelligent manner; to be argued with about love and life– and not to be judged. She understood; and the fact that she understood, it gave me hope.
