I wore my crisp, white, freshly-pressed dress shirt. I wrestled with my hair with great fervor until it was perfect. I sprayed some extra cologne for good measure. I listened to her playlist on the way in. She wasn't replying to any of my messages that day, but I wasn't worried. I knew how much this girl cared for me. I knew she'd take me in her arms the second I stepped in the office.
I entered the staff room filled with hope. The feeling dissipated as my heart sank into the depths of sorrow looking at her empty seat.
